Once

Once
I thought
The lights in the river
Were nymphs
With their lanterns
Seaweed gowns streaming
Behind flowing green hair
Tempting tired sailors
Down long waterways
To the sea
Lured by the promise
Of nymphs
With their glowing lamps
Just under the surface
But now I see
They are only
Streetlights
